1)Do you provide linens and towels?
Yes, we do, but please bring extra towels to swim at the lake.
2)What kind of cooking facilities do you have?
The large cabins have a full kitchen with all the basics. We do not have any kind of fancy appliances. They have a charcoal BBQ, please bring some charcoal and a nice selection of meats and vegetables.
The small cabins have a mini-fridge and electric kettle. Mugs and wine glasses are provided according to the cabin occupancy. These cabins have a gas grill. Camping stoves are ok to use outside the cabin. There is a picnic table for your use as well. Think “glamping”.
3)Do you have laundry on-site?
Peace and Quiet cabin has a washing and drying machine. The rest of the cabins do not have laundry facilities.
4)What should I bring?
Please bring sunscreen, bug repellent, water shoes, flip flops (especially if you are using the shared bathrooms), toiletries, fishing license and gear floaties, a warm jacket, extra towels to swim in the lake, a good selection of drinks, meats and vegetables.
5) Will the restaurant be open?
No.
6)How much should we tip housekeeping?
That is up to you, but please be generous!
7) Where can I get ice?
Ice will be provided for free. Please ask any of our staff that are there during the day to bring you a bag of ice.
8)Is there cell phone reception?
No. However, if you have an emergency during the day, the staff will give you access to the lodge so you can make a phone call. There is a paid phone (yes those exist) by the parking area.
You are welcome to bring a satellite phone.
During the night, we will give you exact instructions on how to access the lodge after you check-in
9)Will the lake be stocked?
The California Fish and Wildlife normally stocks Packer Lake. Please contact them directly for further information. https://wildlife.ca.gov/
10)What are your season dates?
We normally open on Memorial Day weekend and close on Veterans Day.
Please be aware that if there is a lot of snow on Memorial Day weekend, we will have to keep the lodge closed as the roads will be covered in snow. If this happens we will let you know in advance and issue a full refund.
11)What time is check-in and check-out?
Check in any time after 2PM, checkout by 10AM.
12)How can I book a cabin at Packer?
We normally open reservations to the general public around March 10th. We have regular guests that have been coming to the lodge for the past 30/60 years and they have the same week and cabin booked for years to come.
However, we welcome new guests, and you are welcome to book a cabin online when we open online reservations. If you have any trouble booking a cabin, please send and e-mail at [email protected] and with your dates in mind.
13)Can I bring my dog?
Yes, dogs love Packer and we love them as long as they are on leash while walking on the grounds and are respectful and quiet.
We charge a $25 fee per day with a maximum of $75 per week.
14)Can I camp in the Packer grounds?
No, tents are not allowed on the ground at Packer. However, you are welcome to use a tent on your cabin porch
